Suppose that $A$ is a square matrix and $\lambda$ is an eigenvalue of $A$. Then the geometric multiplicity of $\lambda$, $\geomult{A}{\lambda}$, is the dimension of the eigenspace $\eigenspace{A}{\lambda}$.
